Restoration Progress

Goliath and Cartela

With the assistance of generous donations from our sponsors and a dollar for dollar grant provided by the Tasmanian Community Infrastructure Fund, the Trust has managed to track down a barge that will be suitable for use as a dry-dock.

Goliath was originally built as a cross river vehicle ferry for N.S.W.  northern rivers.  Its size and low overall deck height will make it suitable for use as the work platform to support Cartela out of the water.

Valuable in kind assistance has been provided to the Trust by the following business.  On the first hand, Polaris Marine and the crew of the tug EDI transported Goliath safely from Sydney Harbour to her temporary mooring in North-west Bay Tasmania at a rate we could afford.

TasPorts provided a harbour pilot to safely guide the barge to its anchorage.

And finally a huge thanks to Tassal Salmon for supplying the mooring and crew to accommodate Goliath until we can finalise the Tasmanian survey requirements.

Without these and other sponsors this project would be un-achievable.
